One glass at a time at CiderCider
Wouter Bijl’s opened CiderCider in 2009 online and then as the first cider store for the Netherlands. The Dutch can now proudly proclaim cider has arrived. Proost!
This Cider Chat goes back and forth to the US to the Netherlands discussing the range of the ciders available, the differences, and the current and future state of cider in the Netherlands. Wouter is a cider importer who is helping cider get its footing in the land of tulips and cheese.
(Cider Chat update for CiderCider: CiderCider is now an online only store. Wouter has since founded Lightship Cider)
Located along Rotterdam’s harbor, this fun cider store was easily accessed whether you are riding, walking or driving. It was located in what was once called the Fenix Food Factory the building where a large building that also housed the Kaapse Brewery, local artisinal cheese, a chaterie (also owned by Wouter).
On the day that Ria chatted with Wouter there was a large craft beer after-party at Kaapse and the place was hopping, festive, and welcoming with adults and kids joyfully intermingling. Ahhh Europe!
